atongue[ January 2017

atongue[ is an album that plays with fragmentation, degredation, memory, distance, love, and dementia. It came out of the years I spent taking care of my Grandmother, re-translated through the lens of Anne Carson's brilliantly spacious translations of Sappho.

The first single is ] golden crowned[, which was released with an interactive music code video thing. The full album will be released sometime in the second half of 2016, and I'll of course give it to my patrons before then! ᵔᴥᵔ

MOONS ongoing

MOONS is an ongoing album-y project comprised of one-off songs, funk jams about Jupiter, and ambient compositions that I give to my patrons every month.

there is some space below that Nov 2014

In response to a challenge to complete an entire album in a week, I decided to score some live-feed footage of spacewalks on the ISS. It was made originally as a series of videos that you can watch on YouTube, but it's also available to download via bandcamp.

Desert Gestalt June 2012 - Sept 2013

This is a cut-up, field-recording-based album I composed using sounds I had recorded during my stay at the University of Utah's Rio Mesa field research station. Download comes with an accompanying book of poems & art.

Funded by a fellowship grant from the Rio Mesa Center.

Fair Mariner 2012/2013

Some songs I wrote about Captain Thomas James, who led a failed expedition to find the Northwest Passage. Heavily inspired by Motown & Stax, James Brown, and all my other funk & soul heroes.

Bright Whistles is the pop band we need, not the pop band we deserve.

Logan Hone and Stuart Wheeler are two of my best friends, and in the spring/summer of 2015 we went on tour with a set of noise/folk/weird/improvised music.

MATTEO 2009 - 2014

Matteo was a band I played in with Jordan Riley and Eric & Brinn Chipman. We played western folk music that was inspired aesthetically by traditional Chinese music, and we played traditional Chinese folk instruments in addition to western ones.

We made two albums: The Morning Market, a collection of Eric's songs, and The Sichuan Project, an album we wrote and recorded in our doorm room during our music residency at Chengdu's Sichuan University.

ST. BOHEME 2009 - 2014

I helped my friend & musical twin Beaux Underwood start his St. Boheme project up again after their hiatus in 2009, and I played with them until I moved away from Salt Lake City in 2014.

We started as a glorified Yann Tiersen cover band, became a respectable wedding band, and by the time I left had expanded to an occasional 12-piece balkan force of nature.

St. Boheme is still actively performing in Utah, and is available for weddings and events. Contact Beaux for booking & information:

MIDEAU 2013 - 2014

Mideau is a duo congealed by two incredible musicians & my lovely friends Spencer Harrison and Libbie Linton. I played bass/synth in their touring band for a little while, including a trip to SXSW, an opening spot on a Katie Herzig tour, and some shows in New York.

indcludes most of the above, plus:

I helped Mo make her beautiful album, which included a lot of fun field recording and improvised

Julia is a dear friend and an incredible singer/songwriter. She is also a super talented guitar player, and not only does she play events & weddings (beautifully), but she gives guitar lessons in SLC. I'm positive there isn't a better guitar teacher in Utah. Her business website is here.

Giant Frame

Giant Frame is a filmscoring company that I started with my best friends Jesse and Logan. We also super definitely want to score video games, but beyond my own little games, we haven't had a chance to try it yet.

gifscores is a daily composition project where I write original music for gifs. Started June 2016, let's see how long I last :)
